pictures from our seacoast mini-moon.

missing our cruise due to violent illness was a major bummer,
but mr. wonderful and i were determined to focus on
being happily married . . . after all, a honeymoon doesn't make a marriage!
once we were both well and back on our feet,
johnny's parents generously sent us away to the coast for a few days
to salvage a bit of our lost honeymoon time.
the wentworth by the sea is a delightful
seaside hotel full of old new england charm.
the ocean air was crispy cold and invigorating after days spent
in dark rooms, sleeping all snuggled under piles of blankets.
while we were there,
we made sure to venture out to portsmouth, the surrounding town,
to explore it's cute shops and tasty eateries . . .
burgers {veggie for me!} and local beer at the portsmouth brewery,
eggnog pancakes at the golden egg where we were greeted by a line out the door
and the median age was about 65 and full of locals
{a sure fire way to know it's delicious},
a shared calzone at the gas light co.,
where we feasted together after days of bland toast and ginger ale
and a romp around gus and ruby,
a charming paperie where i literally was compelled to spend
nearly every penny to our names.
an unexpected and perhaps nontraditional way to celebrate being married . . .
goes to show you do not need a tropical honeymoon
to relax after wedding craziness.
a chilly new england vacation did us just fine.
thank you, portsmouth. you were good to us!

  2. Looks like you had a great time!! The only thing that matters on a honeymoon is that you are together! :)
