i made some etched glass coasters for my brother for christmas {which i woefully forgot to photograph} . . . and made myself jealous in the process. they turned out really beautifully and if i can ever get my hands on them again, i'm whisking them away for a little photo shoot.
i've been desperate for a new craft project since the holidays, so i thought i'd take on making a set of four for us.
the designs are waterproof {i haven't attempted to wash them with soap, fyi . . . i'm afraid} but it was a lot less trouble than etching and i love the green glass against the gold metallic paint. the best part is seeing what designs emerge as i draw away. etching glass is a lovely way to achieve a subtle design, but i admit i'm terrified of burning my fingernails off with it {yes, i did use gloves. i'm just irrational.} these feel very organic, yet modern to me. i'm happy with how they turned out and love looking at them on my coffee table. i'm kind of in the mood to make another set . . . anyone want some???

What a cute idea for coasters! I am in need of one for my nightstand and I just might use this idea! :)
